Orankesee

Orankesee is a small kettle lake of just under four hectares in Alt-Hohenschoenhausen, in Berlin's Lichtenberg district. Together with the neighbouring Obersee, it formed the geological seed around which the Hohenschoenhausen villa quarter grew from the turn of the 20th century. On its southern shore stands the 1920s lido Strandbad Orankesee, with sand beach and diving tower, refurbished after the GDR years and one of the classic Berlin family bathing spots in summer. The lake lies close to the Ringstrasse and is a short ride from the M5 tram.
