Nature ReserveBirdwatchingNature Experience+2
The Wurmtal nature reserve north of Herzogenrath was designated in 1992 to protect the floodplain and riparian corridor along the Wurm, a tributary of the Rur in western North Rhine-Westphalia. The area comprises wet meadows, alder-lined riverbanks and near-natural stream sections that provide habitat for ground-nesting birds and amphibians. Quiet footpaths run along the valley, offering a pocket of undisturbed landscape at the immediate edge of the town.
