The Romeinse Villa Kaalheide near Herzogenrath marks the site of a former Roman country estate (Villa Rustica) on the Dutch-German border fringe of the ancient Roman province of Germania Inferior. No structure remains above ground — the building's footprint is outlined at ground level, accompanied by an illustrative reconstruction panel. The surrounding land has been converted to an orchard and sheep pasture. Visitor reports note faded signage, overgrown grounds, and occasional locked access, leaving little for the casual visitor to engage with. Those interested in the region's Roman past will find more rewarding material in the museum collections of nearby Aachen.
