St. Laurentius

St. Laurentius in Achim is the oldest surviving building in the town and the largest rural church between the former episcopal seats of Bremen and Verden. Built in the brick-Gothic style using fired brick and fieldstone, it is dedicated to the Roman martyr Laurentius and is a listed historic monument. The church remains an active Lutheran congregation and offers a rare example of intact medieval ecclesiastical architecture in the rural lowlands of northern Germany.
