Thermalbrunnen Burtscheid

Also known as: Marktbrunnen

The Thermalbrunnen Burtscheid stands on the Burtscheider Markt square in Aachen's Burtscheid district and is a listed architectural monument in North Rhine-Westphalia. Faced in ceramic, it is one of the few places in Europe where thermal spring water can be drawn freely by the public — a quiet reminder that the hot springs beneath Burtscheid have been in use since Roman times, long predating the city's famous spa culture. Visitors can fill their own containers directly from the spout; the fountain is fully wheelchair-accessible and sits at the center of the neighborhood's everyday market life.
