Uskudar Coast Walkway

The Üsküdar Coast Walkway runs along Istanbul's Asian shoreline, offering unobstructed views across the Bosphorus — the narrow strait that divides two continents. Üsküdar is one of Istanbul's oldest settled quarters, known in antiquity as Chrysopolis and for centuries a departure point for caravan routes into Anatolia. The neighbourhood carries a distinctly different character from the European shore: quieter, more traditionally inclined, and noticeably calmer even at peak hours. The Maiden's Tower — an 18th-century islet landmark set in the middle of the strait — sits directly offshore and frames nearly every view from the promenade. Visitors typically arrive by ferry from Eminönü or Karaköy, then drift between tea gardens and seafront cafés, staying for sunset when the European skyline glows across the water.
