Galataport's waterfront promenade sits in the Karaköy district right on the Bosphorus, threading together one of Turkey's largest cruise terminals with a stretch of restaurants, cafés and shops open to the public. The site was redeveloped and opened in 2021, transforming what had long been a closed port zone into an accessible shoreline. Evenings are when the promenade comes into its own: views stretch across the Bosphorus to the silhouette of the old city, the water catches the last light, and terrace seating fills along the waterfront. Cruise passengers often encounter it as their first step onto Istanbul soil; locals from Karaköy use it as a natural extension of the city's long tradition of Bosphorus-side strolling.
