Abacaenum

Abacaenum was an ancient hilltop settlement in northeastern Sicily, perched on a steep ridge near the modern comune of Tripi. It flourished during the Greco-Sikel period, its commanding position giving it control over routes between the Tyrrhenian coast and the Sicilian interior. Today the site survives as an archaeological site with scattered wall remnants and terrace structures cut into the hillside. The ascent offers wide views over the northeastern Sicilian highlands.
