Saint Vladimir Monument

Kyiv's oldest sculptural monument — Prince Vladimir holds a cross above the Dnipro, with panoramic river views from the terrace.

Perched on a bluff above the Dnipro River, the bronze figure of Prince Vladimir the Great has watched over Kyiv since the 19th century, making it the city's oldest surviving sculptural monument. Vladimir, who in 988 converted the Kievan Rus to Christianity, stands with an upraised cross that remains visible across much of the city. The pedestal and surrounding terrace offer sweeping views of the river and the left bank districts. Locals gather here at dusk, and the illuminated monument becomes a quiet landmark of Kyiv nights.
