Alexander Nevsky Church

The Alexander Nevsky Church in Malmö is a late 19th-century Russian Orthodox church and the only congregation of its denomination in the city. Named after Russia's national patron saint, it belongs to a tradition of tsarist-era churches built across Europe to serve Russian diaspora communities. The red-brick structure is listed in Sweden's Kulturstyrelsen heritage register. Inside, gilded iconostasis screens and Byzantine-influenced decoration set it apart sharply from the Lutheran churches that dominate Malmö's cityscape. Services are held regularly in Church Slavonic and Russian.
