A static display airframe of the Airbus A340-600, preserved in Toulouse — the city where all A340 variants were assembled on a shared production line with the twin-engine A330. The A340 holds a significant place in aviation history as the first four-engine Airbus aircraft and the world's first civil widebody to feature a fully digital fly-by-wire control system, a breakthrough that debuted with the A340-300's maiden flight on 25 October 1991. The -600 variant stretches roughly 75 metres, making it one of the longest production airliners ever built.
