Alberti

Alberti is an underground station on Line A of the Buenos Aires Subte, which opened on 1 December 1913 as the first metro line in Latin America and the Southern Hemisphere. The station runs beneath Avenida Rivadavia and is named after Manuel Alberti, a priest who played a pivotal role in Argentina's May Revolution of 1810. Line A long retained its original Belgian wooden carriages, giving the tunnel stations an atmospheric time-capsule quality before modernization replaced the rolling stock. Alberti serves westbound trains only — eastbound passengers toward Plaza de Mayo must board at adjacent stops.
