Alpspix
AlpspiX is an X-shaped steel-and-glass cantilever platform perched at 2,050 metres on the cliffside of the Alpspitze massif near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Two walkways extend over the void, their glass floors framing a sheer drop into the Höllental gorge below. Access is effortless — the Alpspitzbahn gondola lifts visitors directly to the top station a short walk away, making it one of the most accessible high-alpine viewpoints in Bavaria. The panorama takes in the jagged Waxenstein ridgeline, the vertical north face of the Alpspitze, and the Zugspitze to the west, all without the crowds that come with Germany's highest peak. Reviews consistently note an unusual quiet up here — visitors seem to instinctively lower their voices in the face of the surrounding scale. The platform is wheelchair-accessible and manageable for families with young children.
