Antiguo Balneario

The Antiguo Balneario — a former thermal bathhouse — is part of the largely submerged village of Tiermas in the Aragonese pre-Pyrenees, flooded during the construction of the Yesa reservoir in the 1950s. When water levels drop, the ruins of the old spa and village core emerge eerily from the reservoir, a reminder that medieval pilgrims once rested here on the Aragonese branch of the Camino de Santiago, a UNESCO World Heritage route. Today the half-drowned stone remains draw walkers and pilgrims following the Camino Aragonés along the banks of the reservoir, offering an unusually atmospheric encounter with a lost landscape.
