Archaeological site of Kerameikos

Also known as: Keramikós Cemetery

Athens

The Kerameikos was once the potters quarter of ancient Athens - and its most important necropolis. From the Dipylon Gate, the Sacred Way led to the Eleusinion; ancient grave stelae and vase paintings tell of death, memory, and Athenian identity. Today one of the quietest archaeological sites in the city centre.
