Armenian Genocide Memorial in Larnaca

This memorial on the Larnaca waterfront is dedicated to the martyrs and survivors of the Armenian Genocide carried out by the Ottoman Empire between 1915 and 1922. The site is historically significant: it marks the precise stretch of Cypriot shoreline where thousands of Armenian refugees first landed after fleeing deportations and massacres — making Cyprus one of the earliest places of refuge. Today the monument stands at the entrance to Larnaca's modern marina, a juxtaposition of historic trauma and present-day urban life.
