Asia and Pacific Museum

The Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw is one of Central Europe's rare specialist institutions dedicated to Oriental and Pacific art. It was founded in 1973 from the private collection of Andrzej Wawrzyniak — sailor, diplomat, and avid collector who gathered more than 3,000 objects during his travels across Asia and the Pacific before donating them to Poland. The institution originally opened as the Museum of the Nusantara Archipelago, reflecting Wawrzyniak's particular focus on Southeast Asia and Oceania. Today the collection spans textiles, sculpture, ritual masks, and everyday objects from South, Southeast, and East Asia alongside Oceanian pieces. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, it remains one of the few places in Poland where the material cultures of the Pacific world are presented with this level of depth.
