Augsburg-Oberhausen

Augsburg-Oberhausen station sits in the northwestern district of Oberhausen and is the city's second most important rail stop after the main station. A halt has existed on the site since 1884, but the current station building at Ulmer Strasse 53 was constructed in 1931/32 in the Neue Sachlichkeit style — sober cubic massing and unornamented facades typical of late Weimar-era public architecture. The building is listed as a protected monument under Bavarian heritage law. Outside the entrance, the forecourt is named after Helmut Haller, the Augsburg-born midfielder who scored for West Germany in the 1966 World Cup final.
