Beira railway station

Beira railway station — Estação Ferroviária da Beira in Portuguese — is the central rail hub of the Mozambican port city of Beira, inaugurated in 1966. The building displays characteristic late-colonial Portuguese architecture adapted to the tropical climate, and serves as the origin point for two lines of Mozambique's central railway corridor: one running west into Zimbabwe, the other northwest toward Tete province. This positioning made Beira a critical transit gateway for landlocked southern African countries accessing the Indian Ocean. The station is now recognised as part of Mozambique's Portuguese colonial heritage, though rail traffic today operates at a fraction of its mid-20th-century volume.
