Assen
Transport HubVictorian Era
Elmshorn station opened in 1844 and today handles around 17,000 passengers daily, making it the third-busiest station in Schleswig-Holstein. Three lines converge here: the Hamburg-Altona–Kiel main line, the Marschbahn towards Westerland on Sylt, and the regional service to Bad Oldesloe. The station functions as a purely practical interchange hub for the northern Hamburg commuter belt, with no notable cultural or touristic attributes of its own.
