Eigergletscher railway station
Eigergletscher station sits at 2,320 metres on the flank of the Eiger as an intermediate stop on the Jungfraubahn line to Jungfraujoch. For decades it served as the last open-air station before trains entered the Eiger tunnel; with the opening of the V-Bahn it gained a second role as the upper terminus of the Eiger Express gondola from Grindelwald Terminal. A little-known detail: the station houses the highest-altitude operational railway kitchen in Europe, alongside the Jungfraubahn's main vehicle maintenance workshop. From the platform, the Eigergletscher itself is directly visible, with unobstructed views toward the Mönch and Jungfrau.
