Helmstedt railway station
Railway History
Schaffhausen railway station is the main rail hub of the Swiss city of Schaffhausen and serves simultaneously as a border station between Switzerland and Germany. Its building, designed in Historismus style, is listed as a cultural asset of regional significance. The station has an unusual dual ownership structure: 65 percent belongs to Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and 35 percent to the German Federal Railway Assets agency (BEV), a legacy arrangement reflecting the station's cross-border role. It handles through trains on the Hochrheinbahn as well as SBB and Thurbo services toward Zurich and Singen.
