Shin-Shimashima Station
Shin-Shimashima Station is the western terminus of the Kamikōchi Line, a narrow-gauge railway operated by Alpico Kōtsū that links central Matsumoto with the foothills of the Kamikōchi valley in Nagano Prefecture. Opened in 1922 during the Taishō era, it serves primarily as a transfer point where passengers switch from train to bus for the onward journey toward Kamikōchi and the surrounding national park area. Beyond that transit function, it is a modest regional station with limited facilities of its own.
