Winterthur railway station

Winterthur railway station, opened in 1855, is the city's main rail gateway and the fourth-busiest station in Switzerland by passenger volume. Its Neorenaissance terminal building carries the highest Swiss heritage classification — Kulturgut Klasse A of national significance — making it one of the most architecturally protected station buildings in the country. As a pivotal hub of the Zürich S-Bahn network, it funnels nearly all rail traffic into eastern Switzerland and offers direct long-distance connections to Germany, a role it has held since the Gründerzeit era.
