Baijusi Yangtze River bridge

The Baijusi Yangtze River Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that opened on 24 January 2022, linking the Chongqing districts of Banan and Dadukou across the Yangtze River. Its double-deck design is its defining engineering feature: the upper deck carries a city expressway while the lower deck has been pre-built to accommodate a future Chongqing Rail Transit metro line — a forward-planning approach increasingly common in China's rapidly expanding megacities. Construction began in 2015 as part of Chongqing's ongoing urban sprawl across its famously hilly terrain. The bridge offers wide views over the broad Yangtze and the surrounding cityscape.
