Ballinalacken Castle

Ballinalacken Castle is the ruin of a medieval tower house in the townland of Killilagh, County Clare, sitting on a limestone rise at the edge of the Burren. Tower houses like this were the fortified residences of Gaelic Irish chieftains — squat, multi-storey keeps that combined defensive function with a show of lordly status.
