Barbès - Rochechouart

Barbès – Rochechouart is a Métro interchange in Paris's 18th arrondissement where line 2 — running on a cast-iron elevated viaduct — meets the underground line 4. The station opened in 1906 under the name 'Boulevard Barbès' before being renamed in 1907 to honour the revolutionary politician Armand Barbès alongside the adjacent Boulevard Marguerite-de-Rochechouart. Classified as a listed historic monument, it retains original Belle Époque infrastructure details characteristic of the Paris Métro's first decade, including its distinctive steel canopy and ironwork. It sits on the edge of the Barbès quarter, one of Paris's most densely multicultural neighbourhoods, and functions today purely as a transit hub — wheelchair access is unavailable.
