Bardwells Ferry Road

The Bardwell's Ferry Bridge is a lenticular truss bridge spanning the Deerfield River between Conway and Shelburne in western Massachusetts. Built in 1882, its defining feature is the lens-shaped profile formed by two curved chords — a structural form that was widely adopted for mid-sized river crossings during the late 19th century before steel plate girders took over. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2000, it stands as a well-preserved example of American iron-and-steel bridge engineering from the Gilded Age. The bridge remains in use today, making it one of the few surviving lenticular truss crossings still carrying traffic in New England.
