Basilica di San Vicinio
The Basilica di San Vicinio is a Romanesque co-cathedral in Sarsina, Emilia-Romagna, dedicated to the city's first bishop, Saint Vicinius. Built in the 11th century, it served as the principal church of the Diocese of Sarsina — an independent see that was only merged with Cesena in 1986. Vicinius holds a rare patronage as protector against demonic possession, and his iron collar survives as a relic that drew pilgrims to Sarsina for centuries, giving the church an unusual place in popular devotion. Recognised as an Italian national monument, the basilica retains much of its original Romanesque stonework. Visitors find a calm, austere interior characteristic of northern Italian medieval church architecture.
