Beatenberg sits on a long hillside terrace roughly 800 metres above Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland, within the district of Interlaken-Oberhasli in Canton Bern. Its elevated position delivers unobstructed views across the lake toward the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau — arguably one of the most recognisable alpine panoramas in Switzerland. The Niederhorn (1,963 m) is accessible by cable car directly from the village or via well-marked hiking trails that stay snow-free well into autumn. Beatenberg itself is unhurried and low-key, making it a practical and scenic base for day hikes into the surrounding mountains without the crowds of central Interlaken.
