Carl-Maria-von-Weber-Museum

The Carl Maria von Weber Museum lies in the Hosterwitz district of Dresden, housed in the former winegrower's cottage that the composer used as a summer residence from 1818 until his death in 1826. It is the only surviving residence of Weber preserved in original form and belongs to the City Museums of Dresden. Here Weber wrote substantial parts of "Der Freischuetz" - the opera considered the founding work of German Romanticism - along with "Euryanthe" and sections of "Oberon". The rooms show original furniture, music manuscripts, letters and family portraits, plus Weber's own fortepiano. Visitors walk through the small living rooms overlooking the garden and the Elbe valley, with an audio tour tracing how the works came into being here.
