Casa de Doña María La Brava

The Casa de Doña María La Brava is a late-Gothic noble townhouse in the historic center of Salamanca, protected under Spain's Bien de Interés Cultural heritage designation. Its name refers to María Rodríguez de Monroy, a 15th-century Castilian noblewoman who entered local legend after two of her sons were killed in a feud with the rival Manzano family — she allegedly ordered the execution of several members of that clan in revenge, earning her the epithet "La Brava" (the fierce one). The building's ornate stone facade is a characteristic example of Castilian late-Gothic civic architecture. Located a short walk from the Plaza Mayor, it fits naturally into a walking tour of Salamanca's densely layered medieval streetscape.
