Capilla de la Vera Cruz

The Capilla de la Vera Cruz is a Renaissance chapel in the historic center of Salamanca, protected as a "bien de interés cultural" — Spain's primary heritage designation. Its name points to a relic of the True Cross: Vera Cruz chapels were commonly founded in 15th- and 16th-century Spain by religious brotherhoods as dedicated sites of cross veneration. The chapel sits within Salamanca's remarkably intact Renaissance and Plateresque cityscape, itself one of the most concentrated assemblages of early Spanish Renaissance architecture in the country. Wheelchair accessible, it offers a quiet, less-visited devotional space away from the city's major monuments.
