China Media Group Guanghua Road Office Area

The CCTV Headquarters is the broadcasting centre of China Central Television, located in Beijing's Central Business District. Designed by Dutch firm OMA under Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren and completed in 2012, the 234-metre building is regarded as one of the most spectacular skyscraper projects of the 21st century: two leaning towers connected at the top and bottom by structurally demanding cantilevers form a closed loop that Beijing locals nickname Da Kucha, the big underpants. Completion was overshadowed in 2009 when the neighbouring Television Cultural Center burned out during a fireworks display. The building is closed to the public but counts as one of the most distinctive elements of the Beijing skyline.
