China Resources Tower

Completed in 2018 in Shenzhen's Nanshan district, the China Resources Headquarters rises 392 metres as the supertall flagship of a state conglomerate. Kohn Pedersen Fox designed the tower with 56 exposed exterior columns that radiate from a tapering crown, earning it the nickname Chunsun, the Bamboo Shoot. Sixty-seven floors hold offices, conference levels and sky lobbies, with the structural diagrid pushed outside to free the interior of columns. It was briefly the city's tallest building during construction in 2016 and is now outranked only by Ping An Finance Center and KK100. The tower has no public observation deck, but the promenade at Shenzhen Bay Park gives the best view, especially at dusk when the facade lighting traces the shaft like a glowing stalk.
