Allee-Theater
Theatre
Das Schiff is Germany's oldest theatre ship. Since 1975 it has been moored on the Nikolaifleet canal in central Hamburg, only steps from the city hall, hosting a 120-seat venue inside a converted inland vessel. It was founded by the actor Eberhard Moebius as a cultural counterweight to mainstream Hamburg entertainment. The programme focuses on political cabaret, comedy and musical boulevard theatre - essentially every major German-language cabaret artist has performed here, from Hanns Dieter Huesch to Lisa Eckhart. An evening on board offers reasonable prices, intimate stage proximity and a maritime old-town atmosphere on the Holzbruecke after the show.
