Designpanoptikum

The Designpanoptikum on Poststrasse in Berlin's Nikolaiviertel is a tiny private museum of industrial objects collected and recombined far beyond their original purpose. Behind the concept stands the Russian designer Vlad Korneev, who has gathered medical devices, old X-ray machines, barber chairs, ventilators, and obscure measuring instruments since 2005, arranging them in dense surrealist installations. Curation follows associative artistic logic rather than chronology. Step through the narrow door and you land in dim, crowded half-light, somewhere between hospital nightmare and cabinet of wonders. Korneev often guides visitors through the rooms in person. Opening hours are irregular, so calling ahead is wise. The place sits a few steps from the medieval Nikolaikirche.
