National Art Gallery of Albania

The National Gallery of Arts is Albania's state art gallery and the country's largest art museum. Founded in 1946 as the Gallery of Arts, it now reports to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sport. The collection covers Albanian painting and sculpture from the 19th century to the present and is especially noted for its large holdings of socialist-realist work from the Hoxha era - worker portraits, industrial scenes and Skanderbeg subjects. Rotating shows of contemporary Albanian art supplement the permanent display. The building on Bulevardi Deshmoret e Kombit gained a comprehensively reworked sculpture garden at the rear in 2022, freely accessible from the street.
