Botanical Garden of Tirana

Tirana's Botanical Garden is the only one of its kind in Albania, set west of the Artificial Lake on the edge of the Grand Park in the city's south. Founded in 1964 by the University of Tirana, it was designed to bring together flora from the country's climate zones - from the Mediterranean coast to the alpine north - in a single accessible site. The grounds cover around ten hectares, with a tree and shrub collection, an arboretum and a small greenhouse. It is quieter than the adjoining park, with signed paths winding past oak, pine and beech stands. Entry is symbolic; best between spring and autumn.
