Hellenic Air Force Museum

The Hellenic Air Force Museum (Mouseio Polemikis Aeroporias) sits at Tatoi Air Base in Dekelia, about 15 kilometres north of central Athens, and is one of the largest aviation museums in southeastern Europe. Established in 1986 within the former summer estate of the Greek royal family, the museum chronicles Greek military aviation since 1912 with more than 70 original aircraft — from a World War I Spad VII biplane through Spitfire and Hellcat to F-4E Phantom and Mirage 2000. Among the highlights are an original Henschel Hs 126 captured from the Wehrmacht, a Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter and the T-2 Buckeye trainers of the Hellenic aerobatic team. The outdoor flight line with its large jets is a particular hit with families, and on special days the neighbouring former Royal Tatoi Estate also opens its gates.
