Nationaal Militair Museum

The Nationaal Militair Museum in Soesterberg was created in 2014 by merging the Army Museum in Delft with the Military Aviation Museum on the former Soesterberg airbase, one of the oldest military airfields in Europe. The 45-hectare site combines a generous hall by Claus en Kaan with an extensive outdoor area where F-16s, F-104 Starfighters and Royal Netherlands Air Force helicopters stand in the former hangars. Inside, tanks of the Dutch land forces roll under a high steel roof beside themed rooms on peacekeeping missions, espionage and the Dutch navy. Families explore cockpits and command posts interactively; with around half a million visitors a year, the museum ranks among the busiest military museums in Europe.
