Ananuri
Tbilisi
Also known as: Burg Totschnik, Burg Tocnik
Late-Gothic royal castle from around 1400 – together with Zebrak Castle, a unique twin-fortress monument in Central Bohemia.
Tocnik Castle is a striking ruin in the Beroun District of Bohemia, built around 1400 by order of King Wenceslaus IV as his private hunting retreat. The complex sits picturesquely above the older castle of Zebrak, with which it is jointly protected as a national cultural monument. The irregular late-Gothic layout gives the ruins a raw, dramatic character. The site is freely accessible and offers lovely views of the Bohemian countryside. The Tocnik-Zebrak twin castle ensemble ranks among the finest medieval castle groupings in Central Bohemia.
