Memorial for the victims of the Nazi euthanasia murders

The Memorial and Information Centre for the Victims of the National Socialist Euthanasia Killings stands on Tiergartenstrasse 4 in Berlin-Tiergarten, directly beside the Berlin Philharmonie. This is the exact site of the villa from which the SS Aktion T4 was coordinated - named after the address from which the systematic murder of more than 70,000 mentally ill and disabled people in six German gas killing centres was organised between 1940 and 1941. By 1945, the Nazi medical killings claimed around 300,000 lives in total. The memorial was inaugurated in 2014 to a design by Ursula Wilms and the artist Nikolaus Koliusis and consists of a 24-metre-long blue glass wall and an elevated outdoor space with information steles. It is the central German remembrance site for a long-suppressed victim group, only steps from the Holocaust Memorial and the Memorial to the Murdered Sinti and Roma.
