Museum of Tibetan Culture

State museum inside the China Tibetology Research Center in Beijing's Chaoyang District, opened in 2010. It displays over 2,000 objects from Tibet, Qinghai and the western provinces, including ten items rated first-grade national cultural treasures - gilded Buddha statues, old sutra manuscripts and thangka scroll paintings from the 14th to 19th centuries. The curation is firmly state-led, stressing the historic unity of Tibet with China and post-1950 social reform. A separate floor covers yak-herder culture, a replica Lhasa living room and traditional Tibetan medicine. Address: 131 Dong Beisanhuan Lu, easy to reach via Subway Line 10.
