Herodou Attikou Street

Athens
  • Road
  • Presidential Palace

Odos Irodou Attikou is a short street just east of central Athens, separating the National Garden from the Presidential Palace and the former crown prince's residence at Maximos Mansion. It is named after the second-century rhetorician and benefactor Herodes Atticus, who funded the Odeon below the Acropolis that still bears his name. Walking along it, you have marble government facades on one side and the pines of the park on the other. In front of the Presidential Palace, Evzones in traditional uniform stand guard, and their hourly changing ceremony is one of Athens' most photographed sights.
