Οnassis Cultural Centre

Also known as: OCC, Onassis Stegi, Stegi · +1

The Onassis Cultural Centre, officially Onassis Stegi, is a cultural venue of the private Alexander S. Onassis Foundation, opened in 2010 on Athens' Syngrou Avenue. The strictly geometric building was designed by French firm Architecture-Studio: a block of white marble wrapped in horizontal louvers that glow with light from within at night. Inside are a main hall seating around 880, a flexible black-box space, exhibition areas, recording studios and a restaurant with a roof terrace overlooking the Saronic Gulf. Programming covers contemporary theatre, dance, music, film and digital art, often with an explicitly political edge. The venue is one of the leading addresses of the contemporary Athens cultural scene.
