Miraikan

Miraikan, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, sits on the artificial Odaiba island in Tokyo Bay. Opened on 9 July 2001 under the leadership of former astronaut Mamoru Mohri, who long served as its director, it is built around the giant Geo-Cosmos: a spherical OLED globe that streams real-time clouds, climate data and night-light maps of Earth. Asimo, the humanoid Honda robot, gave daily demonstrations here until 2022. Climate, AI, robotics and life sciences are explained at interactive stations, with English signage throughout. Reached via the Yurikamome over the Rainbow Bridge, it combines easily with Odaiba beach and the digital art venues nearby.
