Plaza Singapura

Plaza Singapura at the eastern end of Orchard Road was one of the first modern shopping centres in Singapore when it opened in 1974, and is considered a grandfather of the strip. Successive expansions have given the complex seven floors above ground and two below, operated by CapitaLand with Dhoby Ghaut MRT station integrated into the basement. Unlike the luxury malls further west, Plaza Singapura aims at families and everyday shopping: cinemas, a Times bookstore, Daiso, the large Cold Storage supermarket and the food court have been a fixture for local residents for decades.
