Rheinpark Cologne

Rheinpark is a 40-hectare public park on the right bank of the Rhine in Cologne-Deutz, laid out for the 1957 Federal Garden Show (Bundesgartenschau). The site was formerly industrial land, transformed in the postwar years into one of Germany's early large-scale urban parks, with sweeping lawns, mature trees, and direct riverfront access. From the embankment there is an unobstructed view across the Rhine to the Old Town skyline and the Cathedral — one of the cleanest vantage points in Cologne. Today the park draws runners, cyclists, and families; a summer open-air stage hosts concerts, and the beer garden fills up on warm evenings.
