Teleférico de Gaia

Liked by

The Teleférico de Gaia is a gondola lift that opened in 2011, running roughly 600 metres along the south bank of the Douro and climbing about 60 metres from the Cais de Gaia waterfront promenade to the hilltop Jardim do Morro in five minutes. Technically part of Vila Nova de Gaia's public transport network, it operates almost exclusively as a tourist attraction. The ride delivers unobstructed views of the Douro river, the iconic double-deck Dom Luís I Bridge, and the long row of port wine lodges lining the Gaia bank. Operating hours shift seasonally — until 20:00 in summer, 18:00 in winter — and the cable car closes on Christmas Day. The upper terminus at Jardim do Morro also serves as one of the best vantage points over Porto's UNESCO-listed historic centre directly across the river.
